About CBHD

North Carolina's hemp cannabinoid industry has evolved from a volatile startup phase into a major economic force, contributing billions of dollars and creating tens of thousands of jobs. Our state is now a leader in the national supply chain, with consumer demand continuing to grow. The industry has proven its economic value. The next crucial step is to establish supportive policies that foster a regulated, responsible, and productive market. At the Cultivating Breakthroughs In Healthy Development (CBHD), our mission is to ensure this happens. We advocate for smart regulations that protect and expand this vital sector, rather than diminish the significant contributions it already makes to our state's economy.

What is CBHD?

Cultivating Breakthroughs in Healthy Development (CBHD) is a North Carolina-based 501(c)(4) nonprofit dedicated to advancing health awareness and advocating for safe, science-backed alternatives to pharmaceuticals. As a tax-exempt social welfare organization, CBHD is empowered to engage in policy advocacy and public education, putting North Carolinians first. We accept support from individuals and businesses alike. While donations are not tax-deductible and we are not required to disclose donor identities, we operate with full transparency: CBHD is a licensed charitable solicitor in North Carolina (License SL 101821), with a surety bond (501561C) on file with the Secretary of State.

Cultivating Breakthroughs reflects our commitment to innovation in hemp agriculture and product science. Healthy Development means advocating for smart, enforceable regulations—like age restrictions (21+), product testing, licensing, and clear labeling—that protect consumers while allowing North Carolina’s hemp economy to grow sustainably—free from federal overreach. CBHD is governed by an 11-member board of diverse industry leaders who serve two-year rotating terms. We operate independently and publicly disclose all board members.
